Well-Being and Celiac Disease: Coping Strategies for the Whole Family

In support of Celiac Disease Awareness Month and our community’s mental health, two experienced clinical psychologists who specialize in celiac disease will present topics on well-being for those with celiac disease and other gluten-related disorders and answer questions from the audience. Our panelists are Shayna Coburn, PhD, a psychologist at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, and Monique Germone, PhD, a psychologist at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

The webinar will be 1.5 hours and include 45 minutes of Q&A.
It is most suitable for ages 12 and up and geared toward adults who have celiac disease or another gluten-related disorder or who care for someone who does.

Shayna Coburn, PhD is a licensed psychologist in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, and assistant professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Coburn is in charge of psychosocial services in the Celiac Disease Program. Her areas of expertise include coping and resilience in families with chronic illness, improving dietary adherence and promoting positive and constructive doctor-patient communication.
Monique Germone, PhD is an assistant professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and licensed clinical psychologist at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Her research interests include improving behavioral health services, and the impact of celiac disease on children and their families.
