Satay Dip or Peanut Dip

This is such a good sauce. If someone in your house has a peanut allergy, use Sunbutter instead. It will be just as good!
Servings 1 cups


  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 2/3 cup red onion, chopped fine
  • 1-1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1-1/2 tsp minced ginger root
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp GF soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp dry sherry
  • 1-1/2 tsp fresh lime juice


  • Cook the olive oil, sesame oil, red onion, garlic, ginger root, and red pepper flakes in a small, heavy-bottomed pot on medium heat until the onion is transparent, 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Whisk in the peanut butter, sugar, ketchup, vinegar, soy sauce, sherry, and lime juice. Cook for 1 more minute. Cool and serve.
