Where to Find a Dietitian

The only medically approved treatment for celiac disease and gluten intolerance is to follow a gluten free diet. Yet, when making a big change in your eating habits, it is equally important to make sure that you are consuming the foods that will provide all of the nutrients that your body needs.

A registered dietitian (referred to as a registered dietitian nutritionist [RDN]) can help you develop an eating regime that is gluten free and nutritionally sound. On the website of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, you can search for a dietitian near you who is familiar with gluten intolerance (including celiac disease).

On the academy’s website, click on the “Find an Expert” button. Then, enter your zip code, and check the box “Gluten Intolerance” to refine your search, and click on “Find an RDN.”

On Gluten-Free Dietitian’s Website, you can review a list of Dietitians Providing Counseling Services to Persons with Celiac Disease. The list was started in 2008 but is updated whenever a dietitian contacts the listowner, Tricia Thompson.
